ABOUT WALT FAIR

Walt Fair’s impressive career in the legal and real estate industry reflects his dedication and expertise. He embarked on his legal journey by gaining admission to Baylor University School of Law before completing his undergraduate studies. In 1983, at the young age of 23, he earned his Juris Doctorate degree, making him one of the youngest lawyers in modern Texas history. His commitment to academic excellence was evident during his time as an undergraduate at Baylor, where he received recognition by being named to the Dean’s Distinguished Academic Honor List.

Walt’s involvement in the land title business dates back to 1976, and he served as the Managing Director of Home Abstract and Title Company until 2003. Notably, in 1991, he was honored as Stewart Title Guaranty Company’s Texas Young Titleman of the Year.

As an educator, Walt serves as an adjunct college professor and holds licenses from the Texas Real Estate Commission to instruct various courses, including Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Law, Promulgated Contract Forms, Law of Contracts, and Law of Agency, along with continuing education electives. His legal expertise is recognized through licenses to practice law granted by the Texas Supreme Court, Colorado Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the United States Supreme Court.

In addition to his legal and educational roles, Walt has been actively involved in leadership positions. He served as Chairman of the Board of Synergy Bank, SSB, and Synergy Mortgage Corporation. Currently, he holds the position of President at RE/MAX Centex, Realtors, earning him the distinction of RE/MAX of Texas Broker/Owner of the Year in both 2012 and 2014.

Walt has been awarded an “AV Preeminent” rating by Martindale-Hubbell; the highest rating offered by the largest and most comprehensive source of lawyer ratings in the world. The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings have evaluated lawyers based on the anonymous opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary since 1887. As a recipient of the AV Preeminent rating, Walt Fair has been rated by his peers as among the top 5% of attorneys nationwide based on his high standards of legal ability and professional ethics.

The primary focus of The Law Firm of Walt Fair, PLLC is the representation of financial institutions, investors, developers, builders, and individuals in the settlement of real estate transactions. The firm serves as a fee attorney office for Fidelity National Title Insurance Company agencies and closes more than a thousand real estate transactions each year. The firm documents thousands more transactions each year for its bank clientele and offers IRC § 1031 qualified intermediary services.

Walt also has extensive experience in the formation and operation of complex series limited liability companies and the creative utilization of the liability compartmentalization feature that such entities offer.
